Tournament Sanctioning

All invitational tournaments conducted in Alberta must be sanctioned. Having the appropriate sanctioning is crucial for both tournament organizers and participants as it provides a framework for standards of play (game format and rules), allows Alberta Soccer eligible referees to officiate games and provides insurance coverage for participating athletes and officials.

The Authority responsible for sanctioning your tournament depends on who is attending:

  • Tournaments involving only teams of the same local district must be sanctioned by the corresponding Alberta Soccer Member District.
  • Any tournament involving teams from outside the local District must be sanctioned by Alberta Soccer.

Please review the Alberta Soccer Tournament Sanctioning Guidelines prior to completing and submitting a request.
